Former Serie A defender Daniele Adani didn’t enjoy the derby d’Italia: ‘It was a bad show for Italian football. Manchester United and Liverpool had 25 shots on target in 30 minutes, Juventus have 15 in one month.’

The Bianconeri picked up a 1-1 draw against Inter in the derby d’Italia on Sunday.

Edin Dzeko broke the deadlock in the first half, but a penalty kick from Paulo Dybala levelled the score with five minutes remaining in the second half.

Adani, a former Serie A defender and a regular host of Christian Vieri’s Twitch show Bobo TV, explained why he didn’t like the match between Juventus and Inter.

“Fans from all over the world saw a poor show. There couldn’t be a worse promotion in the world for Serie A,” he said as quoted by Ilbianconero.com.

“I saw many players laugh between the at the end of the game. How can they do it? This can’t be the image of Italian football around the world.”

Adani went on comparing the deby d’Italia with Manchester United-Liverpool, which was played on the same day and saw the Reds win 5-0 at Old Trafford.

“What are Juventus offering? How do they play? Manchester United and Liverpool had 25 shots on target in 30 minutes, if Juventus are lucky, they can produce 15 shots in one month.”

Juventus return to action on Wednesday, hosting Sassuolo at the Allianz Stadium.

Inter travel to the Stadio Castellani to face Empoli.

  1. But seriously speaking. The tempo of most Italian serie A game’s is too low. A further improvement won’t kill anyone!

  2. When supposed top 4 teams in epl can beat each other 5 nil
Or when the top teams are beating lower teams 4 and 5 regularly like the epl
Or when you see the fixtures and know Liverpool or City will win, it’s not a great sign of a great league,
In Italy a smaller club can regularly take points of the bigger teams

The prem is always about a race for 4th spot, the title will be City or Liverpool or Chelsea, its boring
Goals don’t make it the best league, a

Though Sundays game was poor, but plenty of serie A games are exciting

  3. Italian football has been said for many many years to be defensive simply because the teams and players know how to defend, where as premiership teams make the most basic errors so of course there will be more shots on goal and goals because there arent any defenders that know how to defend.

Conceding one goal means making a mistake at some point during the play leading towards the goal. So Man United made at least one mistake per goal conceded.

The more goals that are scored, the more mistakes that have been made. So if theres less goals scored in Serie A then that means theres less mistakes being made. Its logical!

  4. There are many games in premier league boring to watch. you can’t use one game to judge other league performances. I must say, mid/lower games in serie a are delight to watch.
I will rather watch empoli vs sampdoria to Chelsea vs Manchester. I love seria a.
    Fonza calcio.

  5. Ppl love it when juve lose
But when dey win or draw it’s bad for Italian football.juve is not man u,man city or barca.but r resolute n more tactical.dey have a DNA which is built on team ethics.seria a has stepped with more goals n chances created.so don’t talk coz u hate juve ,talk based on d league as a whole not just one game u saw.Myopic ,Forza juve

  6. Maybe he didn’t watch the Rome Derby, or inter vs lazio, or spezia vs juve, so many exciting games have been played in serie A this season one bad match doesn’t mean its a boring league

  7. I thought Napoli-roma was very entertaining. We can’t lie though the money goes to premier league because that’s where the eyeballs are.

  8. Manchester United is a terrible team that wouldn’t qualify for the champions league if they were in Serie A this season.

  9. Man U v Liverpool was an advert for their league how?? United is currently a tactically clueless group of individuals who were predictably thrashed by Liverpool. Inter-Juve was a more tactically astute game and fans could tell they were both properly coaches and fairly evenly matched. I watched both and would pick the Serie A games over the Premier League any day of the week!

  10. I am a juve and Italian fan, but let’s face it. Our league is boring. My team is boring, and for people saying it is either Chelsea Liverpool or Man City winning the league; well that is a three team race! We have not had even a two team race in recent years. Best years of Serie A is when each year Milan, Inter and Juve were a point away from each other. Liverpool drew Brentford (newly promoted team) 3-3!! First step in making Italian football better is to admit reality and work on improvement

  11. We can get our feings hurt as fans of this league but the truth is atalanta largely credited with playing the best football in italy cant even hold on to a 2-0 lead against “crap” man u. Roma gets crushed in Norway. Milam and inter sit 3 and 4th in respective groups. It doesnt need to be argued its in plain view.

  12. @Dan, while I would agree that our league isn’t the strongest, I think that the exmples that you’ve given lack context. Atalanta were missing half of their first choice team, and most of their defence. They had to play De Roon back there. Then they lost Demiral. Most teams would have struggled under those circumstances, teams with considerably more resources. Let’s not forget that this Atalanta team were minutes away from qualifying for the semis a couple of seasons ago, and have taken points off Liverpool and City.

Mourinho swapped out almost his entire first eleven with squad players who have barely kicked a ball this season, or played alongside one another all at the same time. They were always going to be a disjointed mess.

Milan are in the toughest of CL groups, in their return to the competition after almost a decade away. Then they have had rotten luck with refereeing decisions and injuries.

Inter have been average, but they are still in a position to qualify. As are Atalanta.

  13. I get that, and I expected to hear “had players injured, had to rotate” but fact is these are problems all clubs from all leagues have to deal with. In a perfect world such and such doesnt exist. Outside of money tempo is what hurts our teams the most. Playing games at walking pace. And selling alot of stars..you think Vlahovic will stay in serie a? Did Salah? Will any of the top 10 players in the world play here in the next years? Its more than unlucky im sorry man but its true.

  14. When you see results like Chelsea 7-0 Norwich or a top tier match with Man Utd 0-5 Liverpool, it shows you the difference in defensive capabilities throughout the league. One Inter-Juve match does not represent the fact that Serie A is one of the highest scoring and most entertaining leagues whereas with Premier League, you know Man City or Liverpool will eventually win, La Liga only has 3 teams, Bundesliga and France, 1 team. Italy is the most competitive domestically and slowly rising in Europe. Recent results with Serie A teams (apart from Inter obviously, they are useless outside Italy), are promising with a decimated Atalanta nearly beating Man Utd, Milan robbed against Liverpool and Atletico and Juve top of their group without even conceding a goal. Adani needs to shut up and stop looking for quick headlines because if you only look at 1 match to represent a whole league, then you should just retire and go back to your basement.

  15. Why, oh why is Serie A so boring? The premier league is clearly much better where supposed competitors are absolutely destroying their rivals with complete ease. Super competitive league. Madness to think that 2 teams who are vying for the top spot should have a tight, cagey game that ends in a draw. This guy is salty cos no one remembers who he is

  16. LDN
You said a lot of what I was going to reply
All leagues have a few teams that can win it

England was a 2 horse race last 3 years
    And many before tgat
    Spain 2, s outland 1, Germany 2, France 1

Italy was 2 or 3,but getting closer

But also the gulf in class and competitiveness in the other big leagues is huge between top 2 or 3, then a smaller race of 4,5, 6, 7, then off a cliff edge
In Italy samp or verona, or genoa etc can often take points, napoli, inter, juve, now Milan, atalanta, roma can all finish top 4, with 3 or so who could win it

It has plenty of goals in serie A, comebacks, games that end 3 2,and some tactical battles that are low scoring, I like that, at the weekend City won 4 1,chelsea 7 nil, Liverpool 5 nil, yes loads of goals, but it’s clearly not a competitive league it’s predictable
All it has is money, and sadly that’s where Italy can’t comoete

  17. Chelsea beat Norwich that same day 7-0. How exciting was that for a neutral?

Adani was correct that it was a bad match, but that is mainly due to Allegri, and I write this as a Juventino.

But the 2nd Half of Roma v Napoli was very good. 1st Half probably was as well but I didn’t watch it.
