The number of deaths (262) and new positive tests (992) from coronavirus have gone up in Italy, but the current active cases dropped by 2,017.

The latest figures released by the Italian Government show a slight increase from the last couple of days in terms of deaths – 262 compared to 195 yesterday – and new positive tests – 992 from Wednesday’s 888.

However, the total current active cases still fell by 2,017 because another 2,747 patients have made a full recovery.

However, the total current active cases still fell by 2,017 because another 2,747 patients have made a full recovery.

The intensive care patients fell yet again by 38 to 855, while there are now 76,440 people with COVID-19 in Italy.

The total death toll from the start of the pandemic on February 20 now stands at 31,368, but 115,288 people have made a full recovery.

Lombardy is still the worst affected area and many of the new positive cases – 522 – were in that region, from 14,080 tests performed.

Of the 262 country-wide deaths since yesterday, 111 were in Lombardy.
