Francesco Acerbi reveals Ronaldo is his favourite Inter player of all time and insists that having ‘big ambitions’ has helped him grow in his career.

Acerbi is expected to start in Inter’s defence in a Champions League game with Real Sociedad on Tuesday night.

The Italian defender gave a pre-match interview to Inter’s Match Programme, discussing his career and ambitions.

“Inter is passion, unicity and something that makes you proud,” he said, as quoted by TMW.

“To wear this shirt always pushes you to give something more. To have big ambitions helps you grow and it’s fundamental to put in great commitment in what one does.

“The concept of team has always been important to me; it means having teammates to fight with to reach common targets,” he continued.

“You can either win or lose, but it’s fundamental to help each other and this is how this group works. I’ve always loved to test myself and challenge the best ones; that’s how one can grow.”

The Italy international also named his favourite Inter player of all time: “Ronaldo, it was a pleasure to see him play.”

The former Brazilian striker spent five seasons at the Stadio Meazza between 1997 and 2002, but recurrent knee injuries tormented him during his spell with the Nerazzurri. He scored 59 goals in 99 appearances with the Serie A giants before joining Real Madrid in 2002, months after becoming World Cup champion with Brazil.

Acerbi joined Inter from Lazio in 2022 and has scored two goals in 65 games with the Nerazzurri, winning a Coppa Italia and a Supercoppa Italiana in his first season at the club.
