Francesco Acerbi has reportedly asked his agent Federico Pastorello to find him a new team ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 34-year-old Italian centre back has suffered a complete relationship breakdown with the Lazio fans this season, stemming from a ‘shhh’ celebration carried out after scoring in a win over Genoa back in December. Despite an apology, a large portion of the fanbase has not forgiven him and a departure is seeming increasingly likely.
As reported by Il Tempo, Acerbi has already asked his agent Pastorello to find a new team in the summer where he can play for a few more seasons at a good level. He is ready to say goodbye to Lazio after four years following a very difficult campaign, which has also been blighted by a hamstring injury.
One obstacle is that he currently earns €2m net per season, so he may have to drop his salary demands a little if he is desperate for a move away from Rome.
The Italian defender has been heavily linked with a move to Simone Inzaghi’s Inter, although nothing concrete has happened yet.
