Francesco Acerbi had already been bitterly criticised by Lazio fans and the situation deteriorated after his reaction to Milan’s winner and ugly row with Adam Marusic.

The defender has been told to leave the Stadio Olimpico by ultras, who found his gesture silencing them for jeers to be insulting several months ago.

He did himself no favours this evening during the 2-1 home defeat to Milan, especially as his poor clearance allowed Zlatan Ibrahimovic to knock it down for Sandro Tonali’s stoppage-time winner.

Fans spotted that Acerbi was laughing to himself after conceding that goal, and so did Marusic, who reacted angrily and screamed in his face.

The pair continued to bicker as the Milan celebrations continued behind them.

It was already a very tense situation anyway, as Lazio ultras from the Curva Nord boycotted the match in protest at high ticket prices and were outside the Stadio Olimpico.

Milan felt more like a home fixture, as they had circa 15,000 fans compared to 10,000 cheering on Lazio.

  1. Acerbi played ok overall, but not sure why he’s laughing. Marusic needs to scream at himself too for his mistake in the winner.

  2. Sometimes in moments of adversity, you can only laugh at your state of demise and misfortune! Marusic though…. The cheek to somehow have a go at others!

  3. looks more a nervous laugh than other. And Marusic is the one to blame in this goal when he gave away cheaply the ball to Rebic.

  4. @villarusso

It was Luiz Felipe who ruined the offside trap and played Icardi onside. Icardi was free, through on goal with a head start on De Vrij, de vrij had 2 choices either foul Icardi or let him score. Oh and what about Lulic getting a silly red card and Savic being out jumped by a shorter Vecino then? Don’t post ignorant crap.

  5. He was laughing because Tonali and then Strakosha pushed him to the ground in the build up to the goal.

Rewind if you don’t believe me.

Marusic is an idiot though, he had numerous chances to clear the ball or put it into touch.

  6. troppi stranieri in serie who are garbage, and all the italian players get the blame… such a duff league, dont care who wins the league anymore and im an ac milan fan, what rubbish the league is, need to start to learn how to build for the future instead of this garbage, pathetic

  7. If these players don’t want to give 100% to the club then simply leave!
Maybe the manager should drop these players and pick a youngster instead!
    Up the mighty Lazio!

  8. When I first saw the footage I perceived the smile as one of frustration, as in ‘here we go again’ and ‘this was inevitable because of our foolish approach’, basically allowing Milan the initiative as soon as Lazio took the lead.

  9. Dennis don’t be a hypocrite. Stranieri are the literal foundations of our club and run proudly through the core of the history of the club. I am happy practically the entire squad is European and has a great focus on youth.

  10. chris2 its fans like you that are the problem with Italian football, you have all accepted mediocrity so many foreign players in serie a are crap, stop being deluded, the best days of Italian football were when young Italians had chances, wake up

  11. i mean how can players like marusic be deemed good enough to play in serie a? my word all these imports just getting by and destroying our game, get lost

  12. Conceding last minute goal doesn’t happen everyday he is just in disbelief just a reminder that Acerbi has been a key defender for Lazio last seasons

Btw who is marusic to judge it’s his fault that Milan scored
