Francesco Acerbi praised Italy’s passing game and assured they “know the goal will come sooner or later, so we don’t worry” after a 2-1 win in Finland.

The Azzurri notched up six wins out of six in Euro 2020 qualifying Group J and are now six points clear at the top.

“It was a difficult game in a tough arena, Finland are a very physical side who run hard and we tried to focus on our passing,” Acerbi told Rai Sport.

“It was a difficult game in a tough arena, Finland are a very physical side who run hard and we tried to focus on our passing,” Acerbi told Rai Sport.

“With the passing quality we’ve got and the forwards we have, we know the goal will come sooner or later, so we don’t worry.

“There are a lot of young players in the side, so at times we are a little naïve, but we’re doing very well considering how little time we get to train as a group.”

Acerbi was a surprise pick for the starting XI rather than Alessio Romagnoli and a last-minute addition to the squad following Giorgio Chiellini’s injury.

“I am always ready, then the Coach decides whether to call me up or play me. I try to do my best when called upon, whether for Lazio or Italy.”
