Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi said Italy ‘aim to win’ Euro 2020 this summer. ‘We have a lot of enthusiasm and will give everything’.
The 33-year-old, capped 13 times by the Azzurri, is expected to be in CT Roberto Mancini’s squad for the European Championship and the Aquile veteran expects Italy to go far.
“We aim to go all the way, because we are strong,” Acerbi told Sky Sport Italia. “Then there’s the group that makes the difference.

“We aim to go all the way, because we are strong,” Acerbi told Sky Sport Italia. “Then there’s the group that makes the difference.
“We aim to win it. Then there are Belgium, France and England who are very strong. Many can win the European Championship, but we are also in contention.”
But Acerbi expects a big challenge this June, as Italy are drawn in Group A with Turkey, Switzerland and Wales.
“In our group there are tough teams, everyone wants to play a great Euro 2020 and they are fearsome,” Acerbi continued. “Turkey and Switzerland have great players, the group will be tight.
“But we know our strength, made by the group. We know what we must do and we want to go as far as possible.
“We really want to god to the national team and to be together. Great credit must be given to the coach and the staff, who made us understand the importance of feeling good.
“All of this has made sure that everyone arrives in the national team with the utmost happiness. We’re a family and we want to be together.”
The success on the pitch has given the Italy fans belief ahead of the Finals and Acerbi is convinced Mancini’s men will do well.
“First of all, the coach asks us to play simple and with our qualities,” he said. “Giving everything we have.
“Then we do what we do best, he gives us full freedom, especially to the players that have a lot quality.
“This is fundamental for this national team. I’m convinced we will do well, we can’t wait to go to the European Championship.
“We deserve a great Euro 2020.”
