Tammy Abraham’s dreadful season could not have a worse end as the English striker left the pitch in tears on a stretcher after a severe knee injury against Spezia.

The former Chelsea forward came off the bench at minute 63 during Roma‘s last Serie A game of the season at the Stadio Olimpico but was forced off after just 17 minutes due to a knee injury.

He immediately received medical attention from the Giallorossi medical staff, but, as reported by Sky Sport Italia, the injury to his knee appeared quite serious. According to Il Messaggero, the striker left the pitch in tears.

The knee twisted in an ‘unnatural way’ and the striker’s condition has already been assessed by the medical staff.

Abraham became Roma’s most prolific debutant last season, scoring 27 goals in 53 games. However, he was unable to replicate the same form this term, netting only nine goals in 54 appearances.

The 25-year-old was not included in the England squad for the 2022 World Cup in December while Roma missed out on a top-four finish in Serie A and lost the Europa League Final against Sevilla.
