Roma striker Tammy Abraham was rated poorly by Italian sports papers and some Giallorossi fans even booed him when José Mourinho replaced him against Milan last night.

Abraham has only scored four goals in 15 appearances across all competitions with Roma this term.

He netted his last goal more than a month ago in Roma’s 3-0 win against Zorya Lugansk.

The former Chelsea striker received low ratings from Italian sports papers this morning. He was replaced during the second half of Roma’s home loss to Milan last night.

‘It’s the first time that Abraham is replaced in a technical substitution,’ wrote Il Corriere dello Sport.

‘He had been so harmless that he convinced Mourinho to replace him.’

The Rome-based paper also highlighted how a few Giallorossi fans booed their striker while he was leaving the pitch, making room for Stephan El Shaarawy, who would net Roma’s only goal of the game.

Abraham was rated 4/10 by Il Corriere dello Spor and 5 by La Gazzetta and Tuttosport.

La Gazzetta dello Sport warned Roma that ‘it’s difficult to get far without a prolific striker’ while Il Corriere della Sera suggested that the Englishman’s performances have dropped since he suffered an ankle injury on international duty with England last month.

  1. There’s a serious lock in Tammy’s head. He just needs couple of goals to regain the confidence but how to achieve those goals, maybe against some weaker opponents. On the other hand, Shomurodov hasn’t been lucky either.

  2. He’s the victim of a grossly inflated price tag. That and Mourinho not somehow being willing to rotate between him and Shomurodov or maybe have both starting together. Nothing about Abraham cries top striker. But I also don’t think mourinho’s style suits him. Practically bullied by Kjaer last night.

  3. Completely ineffective last night. And you may be right as Mou’s tactics so far have left Tammy alone, without service and getting manhandled by any CB he has faced so far.

  4. This is total BS. The player will come good. Looked fantastic in the early weeks. And could have far more goals if it wasn’t for bad luck hitting the woodwork so many times. People are so quick to say a player isn’t good enough if they go trough a bad stretch, I am positive Abraham will bang in a lot of goals before the season has ended.

  5. Tammy’s a great lad but nowhere near good enough to be Roma‘s starting ST. Lacks pace, can’t beat anyone, lacks deft finishing, the list goes on … telling that Tuchel didn’t think he was good enough for a stiff like Timo Werner or even old man Giroud last season. Tammy’s a midtable to lower level EPL forward, nothing more. Hitting the woodwork isn’t bad luck it’s bad finishing when you understand how big a goalmouth is. Tammy will be playing for Norwhich or Southampton next season.

Terrible aquisition considering Roma gave 100 gol Dzeko away for free and passed up a chance to sign Kean on loan for peanuts, who is twice the player Abraham is.

Icardi was Jose’s dream. Couldn’t match his 10 million salary demands.
