Serie B President Andrea Abodi says those allegedly involved in the ‘Goal Trains’ scandal should ‘disappear from football’.

This morning saw a series of arrests, including of the Catania President Antonino Pulvirenti, with at least five matches under investigation for match-fixing.

Described as ‘Goal Trains’ by prosecutors, after the coded language used to arrange the alleged fixes, several Catania wins are being looked into.

“There’s a lot of anger and desire to respond at times like this,” Abodi admitted, speaking to Radio 24.

“But we have to keep clear heads. It must be clear that the Lega Serie B will defend itself, and ensure that the maximum commitment on these issues is never seen as enough.

“As far as Catania goes, a clear network of relationships has emerged. I hope that the names of those involved disappear from the annals of football.”
