A new scandal erupted yesterday when it was revealed that over 50 personnel from clubs in the Lega Pro and Serie D had been charged with sporting fraud and criminal conspiracy, with some linked to mafia organisations.
“Unfortunately, I’ve seen to many generalised judgements,” Abodi told Sky.
“I don’t think it’s right to tar everyone with the same brush, we’re not all involved. The culprits must be identified and severely punished, but the whole system doesn’t have to be discarded.
“Our League [Serie B] is not currently involved, and I think that’s an important signal. I’d urge everyone to exercise caution in their judgements.
“We’ve asked for their to be tougher punishments for sporting fraud, and we’re working with the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice to achieve that.”
