The UEFA President has been suspended by FIFA’s ethics committee for 90 days, after revelations that he received a payment from Sepp Blatter described as “disloyal” by the Swiss attorney general.

“We’ll know more after Thursday and the meeting with the Executive committee, and with the 54 Federation Presidents,” Abate, a UEFA vice-President said in an appearance on Gr Parlamento.

“We need great attention to to the facts, and clarification of the order in which things occurred. We often complain about the slowness of the Italian sports justice system, but here maybe it went too fast.

“It’s difficult to think that if Platini were in such a delicate situation [having received money unduly] he could keep up his stringent attitude against Blatter.

“So we need a 360-degree clarification.”
