Christian Abbiati thinks this might be “the best season of my career” as the goalkeeper helps Milan towards the Scudetto.

The Rossoneri need only four points from their remaining four games to clinch the Serie A title.

“I don't know if this has been the best season of my career, as in 2008 I was certainly doing very well until I picked up an injury,” he told Milan Channel.

“I don't know if this has been the best season of my career, as in 2008 I was certainly doing very well until I picked up an injury,” he told Milan Channel.

“It is an important campaign, as the team is playing well, has the finish line in its sights and these results also help a goalkeeper to gain confidence.”

Several times this term Abbiati has earned comparisons with the amazing save he made during their win in Perugia on the last day of the 1998-99 season.

“I'm pleased that people still remember that save, because it was certainly the most important I've ever done.

“It was in the final minutes of the final round in a result that sealed the Scudetto. It's also unforgettable as it was my first Serie A season with Milan.

“I needed a great save on Alessandro Diamanti in Brescia on Saturday, but it doesn't compare to Perugia.”
