Milan have decided to move forward with Stefano Pioli for the time being, but his possible dismissal could lead to a promotion for Primavera coach Ignazio Abate.
The Rossoneri’s frustrating 3-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday all but confirmed their exit from the Champions League at the first hurdle, barring any miracles. The result will see them miss out on over €100m of revenues, a bitter pill to swallow for the club.
Milan currently sit six points behind league leaders Inter after 13 games and pressure has continued to mount on Pioli, who still has the backing of owner Gerry Cardinale and CEO Giorgio Furlani for the moment.
As detailed by Tuttosport via TMW, should Milan ultimately decide to dismiss Pioli at some point this campaign, they could promote Primavera coach Abate to the first team until the end of the season.
The Rossoneri management do not want to quickly hire a long-term coach in the middle of the season, instead preferring to keep their options open for the summer.
