Abate, Albiol handed bans

Milan’s Ignazio Abate and Napoli’s Raul Albiol are among nine players to be handed one-match suspensions.

The two defenders received their fifth bookings of the campaign in the last round of Serie A action and will now sit out their matches against Sassuolo and Chievo respectively.

Lega Serie A also announced one-match bans for Mario Rui (Empoli), Joaquin Correa (Sampdoria), Mauricio (Lazio), Blerim Dzemaili (Genoa), Massimo Gobbi (Chievo), Giampaolo Pazzini (Verona) and Paolo Sammarco (Frosinone).

Serie A Week 28 will get underway this weekend, with Fiorentina’s trip to face Roma in a Champions League showdown the highlight of the round.
