A22 CEO Bernd Reichart, the company promoting the European Super League project, was not concerned about Juventus’ off-pitch issues or the resignation of Andrea Agnelli.

The Bianconeri, alongside Real Madrid and Barcelona, are the three clubs still pushing for the now-infamous Super League project, which was met by anger and opposition when initially launched in April 2021.

Things had fallen quiet over the last few years but A22 emerged today with their 10 principles behind a new Super League project, suggesting that it could be open to 60-80 teams based on qualification through domestic competition.

Speaking to ANSA, A22 CEO Reichart was first asked if he was concerned about Juventus’ ongoing legal issues, namely the FIGC’s 15-point deduction and the Prisma investigation.

“No, I will continue to work together with the Juventus representatives in a constructive and productive manner.

“I will continue to appreciate them as committed partners in the project, who care about the sustainability of football.”

He was then asked if there would still be space for Agnelli to work on the project following his resignation from Juventus a few months ago.

“Andrea will make a decision and do what he wants to do. I want to make sure I can still deal with him and his advice and knowledge, few people know European football like he does.”

Finally, Reichart spoke a little more about the Super League project and what it can bring to European football.

“There is a key message we send to everyone: there will be no more permanent members, we want to focus on meritocracy. We learnt from the debate surrounding the initial Super League proposal.

“Sporting merit is one of the key principles. Both clubs and fans want an attractive and competitive competition.”
