“There will be a handful of new faces, while two or three of the older guard have remained and that includes Massimo Ambrosini – he will be an important element.”

Allegri won the Italian championship in his first term at San Siro, but they were left empty-handed last time out.

“We must have humility and the awareness within our means and try not to repeat the mistakes of the past. You sometimes miss that ‘wickedness’ when you are favourites to win.”

Allegri, however, is well aware that there are a handful of sides who will be looking to lift the Scudetto.
