David De Gea says it was ‘easy’ to settle at Fiorentina, while Robin Gonsens insists the ex-Manchester United keeper ‘surely’ is one of the best in Serie A.
De Gea’s stunning saves against Genoa and a Gosens goal helped the Tuscans earn three points at Marassi and leapfrog Juventus in the Serie A table on Thursday.
“It was very easy since I came here,” De Gea told DAZN.
“The truth is that the players, the coach, the staff and the fans are spectacular. It was easy to adapt, and I’m doing my best to help the team and make the fans happy.”
His late save to deny Andrea Pinamonti was particularly impressive.
Fiorentina star makes big De Gea admission: ‘Surely…’
“It was all quick; I was about to fall down, but I managed to catch it,” said the ex-Man United star.
“It was a vital save because it was at the end of the game, which helped us get three golden points.”
“This win must boost our confidence,” added match-winner Gosens.
“If you manage to win these challenging games, it means a lot. It means we are an extraordinary group. These games are even more difficult than those against Milan, Lazio or Roma because you need to find motivation inside you. I am so happy we earned all three points.
“It’s very early in the season. We must continue like this. If you win these games, you can aim high. We are strong, we have quality, and we must go on the pitch to win every game. The important thing is to get all three points.”
Lastly, De Gea was asked if he feels one of the best keepers in the league, but Gosens replied instead: “Yes, surely one of the best, 100%.”
