Leonardo Bonucci believes that the chase for the Serie A is a three horse race between Napoli, Inter and Juventus but has picked two other dark horses to succeed in the league this season, but neither of those are his former side Milan

Bonucci spoke alongside his former Juventus and Italy teammates Andrea Barzagli and Leonardo Bonucci at the Festival dello Sport over the weekend.

The former Juventus defender says it is not a surprise to see his former club and international coach Antonio Conte leading a team at the top of the Serie A table again.

“Napoli are playing it safe with Conte,” he said. “I said it in the summer too. With the signings he’s made, he’s managing to do well in the league and I’m not surprised to see him up there.”

Bonucci believes Milan are ‘a step below’

Bonucci went on to explain who he expects to see in the Serie A top four come the end of the 2024-25 campaign, but feels that Milan are a step below the other teams who he thinks will be competing for the title.

“Napoli, Inter and Juve will compete for it, but I am also liking Lazio and Gasperini’s Atalanta. You always have to watch out for them when you’re pushing for the top spots. I see Milan a step below.”

Milan are currently sixth in the Serie A table, two places above Atalanta, but below all the other teams that Bonucci mentioned, as well as the high-flying Udinese

Napoli lead the standings with a two point lead (16 overall) after the first seven league matches of the season, leading Inter in second, Juventus, Lazio and Udinese, all of whom have 13 points in third down to fifth.

  1. He spoke the truth. Milan won’t go anywhere & won’t achieve anything under their current owners & their arrogant swedish consigliere.
