Riccardo Calafiori recalled a horrific injury he suffered six years ago while at Roma, adding a motivational message: ‘Never give up.’

The Italy international suffered a severe knee injury in 2018 while playing for Roma’s Primavera team. It happened on October 2, six years ago, and Calafiori and his agents at World Soccer Agency recalled that moment with an Instagram story.

The message is clear: “Never give up.”

Calafiori said at a press conference in June that “somebody” told him his career could have finished early due to his injury.

Calafiori played under Paulo Fonseca and José Mourinho at Roma before joining Basel in 2022.

He swapped Bologna with Arsenal in a deal worth €45m last summer.
