Milan coach Paulo Fonseca decided not to show his Rossoneri players any footage or analysis of Inter’s matches before the two teams met in the Derby della Madonnina according to reports from Sky Sport Italia

Here is why the Portuguese tactician decided not to worry about Simone Inzaghi’s results so far.

Why Fonseca did no Inter analysis with his Milan players

According to Sky journalist Peppe Di Stefano, Fonseca decided not to show his players any footage of Inter’s matches so far this season in the week building up to Sunday’s derby in San Siro.

The coach felt that Inter were a beatable team, and wanted his players to keep the focus on themselves and trust in their own abilities, rather than becoming distracted by their opponents’ strengths.

Fonseca made it clear that he wanted his players to show bravery and courage, and reportedly made adjustments to the team’s dressing room with that exact message posted on the walls in multiple different languages.

Of course, Fonseca’s coaching staff still carried out their pre-match analysis as usual, but the coach wanted to experiment by letting his players concentrate on themselves.

Though Fonseca had been at risk of losing his job prior to the derby against Inter, Milan now look in a much better position in terms of the lead standings after their 2-1 win, and could even go into first place in Serie A if they beat Lecce on Friday night.
