Dan and Ryan Friedkin, part of the Friedkin Group that owns Roma, have released a statement thanking club legend and former coach Daniele De Rossi for his efforts before his dismissal last week, and have opened the door to a possible return in the future.

‘Maybe one day back at Roma,” a statement read.

Friedkin Group thanks De Rossi after Roma dismissal

De Rossi was relieved of his duties as head coach of the Giallorossi on Wednesday morning. His departure was the first in a series of hectic events at the Stadio Olimpico this week, which has also seen the appointment of Ivan Juric and the resignation of ex-CEO Lina Souloukou.

Fans were left feeling frustrated and confused by the decision to let De Rossi go, and took their anger out on some of the team’s senior players on their way into training on Wednesday.

Part of the reason behind the supporters’ frustrations was the lack of clear communication from the senior members of the club’s management.

In lieu of an active CEO, the owners have provided a statement thanking De Rossi, and also suggesting that the door will always be open for him in the future.

Let us say this; we have the utmost respect for Daniele and believe he will have a great career as a coach. Maybe even one day back at Roma,” a statement on the club website read.

“The decision to part ways with him was incredibly difficult, but we made it with the belief that it gives us the best opportunity to compete for trophies this season.”
