Genoa released a video to confirm that coach Alberto Gilardino has signed a new contract to June 2025.

The news had already been known, as Gila told reporters he had put pen to paper on the agreement on Sunday morning before their 1-0 Serie A defeat to Roma.

His contract had been due to expire on June 30, but he has added another season to his experience at Marassi.

Gilardino had been the Under-19 youth team coach until he was promoted as an interim manager in December 2022.

The performances were so good, earning promotion to Serie A and then mid-table comfort, that he had to be confirmed in the role.

This season, the Grifone had 11 Serie A victories, 13 draws and 13 defeats.
