Multiple sources report that Milan have finally abandoned talks for free agent Matija Popovic, with Juventus now facing competition from Bayern Munich.

The 18-year-old had arrived in Milan over the last few days with his entourage, but notably did not stay in the usual hotel that the Rossoneri use for their new signings.

This made it clear that he was there for negotiations and not as a done deal.

The situation had already been interrupted by Manchester City in recent weeks and then Juventus dived in with an improved proposal.

However, Calciomercato.it and Calciomercato.com both report that Milan have closed the door on Popovic once and for all due to the massive commission requests of his agent.

His entourage has now left Milan and there are reports they will be in Turin for this evening’s Coppa Italia quarter-final between Juventus and Frosinone, giving them the opportunity to talk with the Bianconeri directors.

They are not the only ones, as Bayern Munich have also seemingly been contacted by the agents, who are eager to get a bidding war going for the free agent.
