Manchester United‘s option for Sofyan Amrabat ends in May 2024 and the Red Devils will be required to pay at least €20.5m to sign the Morocco international permanently from Fiorentina.

Amrabat joined United on an initial loan deal on the deadline day in September 2023 but has been struggling to adapt to life at Old Trafford.

He has recently been criticised by Manchester United fans after a poor performance against Liverpool in the Premier League and he still hasn’t scored or assisted in 17 appearances with the Red Devils this term.

Manchester United paid €10m for the midfielder’s season loan in September and have an option to make his move permanent for €20.5m plus €5m of potential add-ons at the end of the season.

Sky Sport Italia reported in September that United’s option to sign Amrabat expires in May 2024.

It remains to be seen if Manchester United will sign the Morocco international on a permanent transfer. Having an option to buy means they could try to negotiate a lower fee with the Tuscans after the deadline in May.

It remains to be seen if Fiorentina would accept less money for one of the best players at the 2022 World Cup. Amrabat’s contract at the Stadio Franchi expires in June 2025, but the Tuscans have an option to extend for a further campaign.
