Italian director Walter Sabatini has declared that he could not see himself working for Napoli, even if the opportunity arose, as President Aurelio De Laurentiis ‘does everything’, and that there would not be a role for him in Naples.

Sabatini was interviewed by Radio CRC, reported by TMW on Tuesday evening, during which he spoke of Napoli and their current position within Serie A and in Europe.

He went on to explain that ADL is like ‘a pilot’ and that he does not currently need a co-pilot.

The 68-year-old is perhaps best known for his success, particularly in the transfer market, with Roma in the 2010s. He has also been appointed to sporting director roles with Inter, Bologna and Salernitana since then .

“I couldn’t go to Napoli because De Laurentiis does everything, so I wouldn’t have a role. Even if he approached me, I wouldn’t believe him. He is a pilot and he doesn’t need a co-pilot,” Sabatini said in his chat with Radio CRC.

“That said, his story is one of incredible success, because he has brought Napoli to the top of the game in Europe and there is no question about that.”
