Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni has undergone a new round of medical tests, confirming the presence of a right calf injury.
The 24-year-old centre back was forced to withdraw from Luciano Spalletti’s Italy squad last week after suffering a calf issue in a training session at Coverciano. He returned to the Nerazzurri, unavailable for the crucial Euro 2024 qualifiers with North Macedonia and Ukraine.
Inter currently hold a slim two-point lead over Juventus at the top of the Serie A table and have a tense few weeks ahead, facing their rivals before travelling south to face Walter Mazzarri’s Napoli. In between, they’ll face Benfica in the Champions League in a fairly low-stakes affair.
As reported by Calciomercato.com, Bastoni’s medical tests today confirmed the presence of an injury to his right calf, which’ll rule him out of the coming two games against Juventus and Benfica. Inter are hoping to recover him in time for the Napoli clash on December 3.
Should he fail to recover in time for the trip to Campania, he could return on December 9 against Udinese.
