New Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri is famous for the 3-5-2 formation, but today in the test match used Luciano Spalletti’s 4-3-3.

When Spalletti walked away over the summer, President Aurelio De Laurentiis stated that he wanted a coach to follow on from those same tactics, which is why he picked Rudi Garcia.

When he was fired after just 16 games, Mazzarri was brought in, having pledged to adapt his historic tactics.

He started training yesterday and this afternoon had the first friendly test against Juve Stabia, using a 4-3-3 formation.

Victor Osimhen was still not working with the squad after suffering from flu symptoms, but was present at the training ground to watch the session.

So was President De Laurentiis, who sat to watch the game between ranks.

According to reports, Mazzarri also focused on a high press and tempo in training, reminding the players of their experiences with Spalletti rather than Garcia.
