Milan owner Gerry Cardinale has now left for the United States after a short but important visit to the club.

The RedBird CEO arrived in the Lombardy capital at the start of this week and met with former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, continuing negotiations to try and bring the Swede back to the club in a backroom role.

The meeting between Cardinale and Ibrahimovic was positive, and the 42-year-old is now expected to start working with the club as an advisor for RedBird in the coming weeks. The Milan owner was also in the stands of San Siro to watch the Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain.

Page nine of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport highlights how Cardinale has now left Italy to head back to the United States, but is expected to return to Milan on November 28 for the Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.

He is still finalising Ibrahimovic’s return to the club and is also starting to look ahead to the January transfer window.
