Despite calls from the Fiorentina ultras and the local authorities, including the Mayor of Florence, all signs point to tonight’s game against Juventus going ahead as planned.

It is due to kick off at 19.45 GMT at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The Tuscany region has been hit hard by Storm Ciaran over the last few days, leaving seven dead, one missing and over 300 forced to flee their homes.

Although there was more rain overnight, the situation seems to be calming down, even if many still remain without power or fresh water.

Fiorentina ultras have announced they are leaving the Curva Fiesole empty and will instead get their equipment to physically help clear up the mud and standing water.

Appeals today grew from the Mayor of Florence, the regional chief and other politicians to reschedule the match.

However, the Osservatorio, whose job it is to organise sporting events, released a statement this afternoon.

“We do not see sufficient reason to call off this game and reschedule it to a different date. We evaluated that no resources for this match have been removed from those actively helping the population hit by the floods.”
