Juventus are said to be interested in Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, his move to Turin in January would be ‘ideal’ for both the Old Lady and Pep Guardiola’s side.

Phillips is looking for more playing time and is expected to leave Manchester City in January. He only started two Premier League games last term, making 12 appearances in league matches.

Things have not improved for the 27-year-old this season as he’s only played 73 minutes in the Premier League, seeing Guardiola drop him even when Rodri was suspended for three games.

Phillips needs playing time at a club level to be a starter for England at Euro 2024 next summer and a move to Juventus in January, even on loan, would be ideal for both the Old Lady and the Premier League champions, says Gazzetta correspondent from the UK Davide Chinellato.

Newcastle are also interested in Phillips, but a move outside England would suit Manchester City more, while Massimiliano Allegri would boost his options in the middle of the park, temporarily replacing the suspended Paul Pogba and Nicolò Fagioli.

A potential loan move would also suit Juventus financially as the Bianconeri won’t have a big budget available for new signings in the January transfer window.

Phillips joined Manchester City from Leeds United in a €50m deal in 2022 and won the treble in his first season at the club.
