Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio confirmed that Samir Handanovic will return to the club and the former goalkeeper now needs to find a suitable role.

The 39-year-old Slovenian spent the last 11 years of his career with the Nerazzurri before hanging up his gloves in the summer, retiring from his playing career. During his time with Inter, Handanovic featured in 455 matches and helped the side win a Scudetto, two Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana titles.

Ausilio discussed many topics in an interview on Wednesday and referenced Handanovic, confirming that the former goalkeeper would be returning to the club in a backroom role.

As reported by TMW, Handanovic will likely have a few options for his return to Inter, starting with being a reference point and coach for the youth goalkeepers. He could also become a scout to help the club find the next best shot stoppers.

The 39-year-old has no defined role yet at the club and during his first year will be given time to learn how to become a director before landing a permanent position.
