Two teams hoping to improve their recent form face-off here and these Verona vs. Atalantapredictions fancy the visitors. But La Dea have lost two of their opening four matches and face a tough run after this midweek fixture.

Verona vs. Atalanta odds

1 – Atalanta to win –3/4

2 – Over 2.5 goals scored – 3/4

3 –Atalanta to win by one goal– 11/4

4 – Both teams to score – 11/14

5 – Atalanta to score first – 4/7

Verona’s tough run of fixtures continues on Wednesday, as they welcome Atalanta to the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi. The Gialloblu come off the back of a trip to the San Siro and have just four days to prepare before they travel to face Torino.

As a result, Marco Baroni will be particularly keen to get a result this weekend against an Atalanta side that have looked far from their best this season. The Orobici are going through a transitional phase and it has shown with defeats to Frosinone and Fiorentina already this season.

Even so, fans of La Dea will be confident of a result against a Verona side who have struggled themselves in recent weeks. Atalanta remain heavy favourites with the bookmakers to take all three points and boast a much stronger squad on paper.

The biggest change for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side was at the attacking end of the pitch, with Duvan Zapata and Rasumus Hojlund departing and Gianluca Scamacca and Charles De Ketelaere arriving in their place. Both new forwards have settled in well, scoring three between them – and have the potential to do even better once they are fully integrated. As a result, we could see a high-scoring game with over 2.5 goals this weekend and both teams to score.

That being said, clashes between the two sides tend to be relatively close encounters. In fact, in the last four meetings, Atalanta have won by one goal twice, and Verona by one goal once. Furthermore, both of La Dea’s defeats have been by one goal so far this season. Looking at the stats, a bet on another single-goal margin could therefore pay off again on Wednesday, falling in favour of the visitors on this occasion.

Marco Baroni continues to experiment with his team, with Milan Duric, Federico Bonazzoli and Cyril Ngonge all featuring up front this season. An injury to Josh Doig means that Darko Lazovic is expected to return at wing-back for this one.

Atalanta team news

Gian Piero Gasperini is expected to rotate his side following a hectic schedule. Gianluca Scamacca may be handed a rare start up front but will compete with Luis Muriel and Charles De Ketelaere for one spot in the line-up.
