Fabio Grosso is set to become the new head coach of Olympique Lyon and will be presented to the fans soon, local reports detail.

The Ligue 1 side have sacked Laurent Blanc after their disastrous start to the season and decided to appoint the 2006 World Cup winner, who guided Frosinone back to Serie A, as the replacement.

Lyon also considered hiring Gennaro Gattuso but decided to focus on Grosso instead. The former full back spent two years as a player with the French side from 2007 to 2009.

As reported by L’Equipe via TMW, Grosso is expected to be presented to the Lyon fans at the Groupama Stadium on Sunday September 17, when they’ll face Le Havre. He will officially start work on Monday next week.

The 2006 World Cup winner shined last season with Frosinone, guiding them back up to Serie A with a first place finish in the second division.
