A spokesperson for the Poland national team has denied claims that Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski has picked up an injury while away on international duty after reports came in that he had left training early.

Jakub Kwiatkowski, Poland’s team manager and Media Officer for the Polish FA, confirmed that Zielinski did leave training earlier than the rest of the squad, but only by a few minutes and not because he was hurt.

Instead, Zielinski was allowed to stop for precautionary measures, having reported signs of fatigue earlier in the session.

Poland are so confident that Zielinski is not injured, that they will not send him for an medical assessment, as they insist there is nothing to assess.

Addressing the media, who had asked whether the Partenopei midfielder was a doubt for the upcoming EURO 2024 qualifiers, Kwiatkowski replied: “Nonsense. These stories have been released by someone who has spied on us.

“Zielinski finished training early, that’s true, but not by half an hour, only by a few minutes. The player simply felt tired. If an athlete feels like this, it’s right to let him finish training early so as not to run any risks.

“There will therefore be no exam scheduled because there is no type of injury,” Kwiatkowski concluded.

Poland are due to face off against the Faroe Islands on Thursday evening at 19.45, before flying to Tirana to play Albania on Sunday.
