New Milan signing Christian Pulisic reveals three players who made his transfer from Chelsea ‘easier’ and is ‘honoured’ to play for the Rossoneri.

The USMNT star spoke at a press conference ahead of Milan’s friendly game against Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid in Pasadena.

“I’m happy to be at Milan and in the United States, my country, for pre-season. I can’t deny that the recent period has been hectic – albeit in a positive way – and I’m enjoying every single moment,” Pulisic said, as quoted by the club’s official website.

The USMNT captain delivered two assists in his first friendly with Milan against Lumezzane earlier this week. He is one of the six signings completed by the Rossoneri so far this summer.

“My decision to join Milan came about after many discussions with the directors and coach, and I’m very happy with my choice,” he said.

“The directors and coach really wanted me to become part of the team. Furthermore, the presence of players like Fikayo Tomori, Olivier Giroud and Ruben Loftus made the decision easier. I was great friends with them in London. As regards the group, I like the players here and those who have arrived. There’s good chemistry and we have big ambitions thanks to our high-quality squad. We want to play for every trophy.

“I’ve learnt a lot by playing in several countries. I’ve gained experienced and am very competitive, and I hope to bring a winning mentality to the group,” he continued.

“I have a lot of passion for this sport, and I want to express myself as best I can and make a contribution on the pitch. Italy is a nice change in terms of life, culture and style. I’m already learning a lot and will try to study the language; I hope my Spanish knowledge will help me in this regard.”

“I think that that young boy from Hershey (Pennsylvania) couldn’t have dreamt of making it this far. I’m proud of what I’ve done so far, and being at Milan is an honour for me. Playing in Serie A and the Champions League is special, and I hope that the next few years are even more exciting.”

The Rossoneri will also face Juventus and Barcelona during their pre-season tour in the USA.

“This is my first pre-season at Milan, and it’s special that we’re here in the United States. I hope that this will help to grow the Rossoneri fanbase in my country even more,” said Pulisic.

“We arrived after a long flight and will take to the pitch very soon. We’ve studied our opponents and prepared for the match with the aim of winning. We’ll take to the pitch with the desire to compete and fight, all the while aware that we’re not yet in the best physical shape. We’re excited to get going and leave a good impression in these first few games.”

The 24-year-old joined Milan from Chelsea for €20m this summer. He scored 26 goals in 145 games with the Blues during his four-year stay at Stamford Bridge.

He has signed a contract until June 2027 at San Siro, with an option for a further campaign. Milan coach Stefano Pioli praised the American star during his latest interview with Sky Sport Italia saying that he is ‘different’ from his teammates and that everything becomes ‘easier’ with players like him on the pitch.
