According to reports, World Cup and Ballon d’Or winner Fabio Cannavaro has agreed terms to become the new coach of Turkish side Fatih Karagumruk.

The 49-year-old had been mentioned as one of the prime candidates for the role over the last 24 hours.

Now Sky Sport Italia are convinced they have made their choice and are ready to put pen to paper with Cannavaro.

His coaching career has not been smooth sailing, as he worked in various assistant and directorial positions at Al-Ahli, then became coach of Chinese team Guangzhou Evergrande in 2014.

Cannavaro had experiences at Al-Nassr, Tianjin Quanjian, back to Guangzhou Evergrande and had two games as the interim manager of the China national team.

His first role in Italy was in Serie B for Benevento, but lasted just 17 games before his dismissal in February.

As for Fatih Karagumruk, they are fond of hiring Italian tacticians after Francesco Farioli and Andrea Pirlo.
