Paul Pogba was honest when reflecting on his miserable first year back at Juventus, discussing the difficulties of his various injuries.

The 30-year-old French midfielder arrived amidst much fanfare last summer but it didn’t take long for things to go wrong. He suffered a knee injury during the pre-season tour in the United States and initially elected for a conservative treatment schedule, not wanting to risk missing the World Cup.

This was despite the orders of various doctors, and the move backfired when the injury was exacerbated. Pogba underwent surgery in early September and didn’t return to action until late February.

After making a few cameo appearances, Pogba suffered a muscle injury after taking a free-kick in training, an injury that forced him to the sidelines for almost a month. After finally returning in May, he showed brief flashes of his brilliance before his season ended early due to a hamstring issue.

Speaking to Views via Calciomercato.com, Pogba reflected on his first year back at Juventus.

“The injuries that came this year are all due to mental problems. No season ever tested me as much as this one.

“My most important victory will be to overcome these extra-sports obstacles once and for all.”
