Former Juventus doctor Fabrizio Tencone believes Paul Pogba should not go on holiday and undergo a personalised program after his latest injury setback to be in shape when the 2023-24 campaign begins.

Pogba was subbed off after barely 20 minutes in a home match against Cremonese on Sunday, his first as a starter this season.

Exams undergone on Monday morning highlighted a low-grade lesion of the rectus femoris in his left thigh, meaning his season could already be over.

Tencone, a former Juventus doctor from 1995 until 2016, spoke about Pogba’s latest injury setback in an interview with Tuttosport newspaper. The former Bianconeri doctor said that the estimated recovery time for these injuries is usually three to four weeks, confirming that the ex-Manchester United midfielder won’t play again this season.

Pogba returned to the Allianz Stadium on a free transfer last summer, signing a four-year contract. So, what will he need to be back in shape in 2023-24?

“They key for next season will be the summer,” said Tencone.

“It won’t be enough to show up for the first training session, thinking that holiday and rest will solve all problems. This would be a huge mistake. Pogba must progressively prepare to be in shape during the summer when training sessions resume.”
