Napoli players and coach Luciano Spalletti are arriving at the Castelvolturno training ground in a fleet of taxis greeted by thousands of fans after winning the Scudetto.

The title was secured last night with a 1-1 draw at the Dacia Arena in Udine and the squad remained overnight at their hotel rather than fly back straight away.

It was one of several decisions made to avoid public chaos, which continued today with their plane landing not at the usual Capodichino Airport in Naples, but nearby Grazzanise military airport in Caserta.

They also left the airport not in a team bus, but a fleet of taxis to split up the crowd and calm the rush to follow a single vehicle.

Spalletti was spotted inside a minivan filming the scenes with his phone as he went through the sea of people outside the gates, eyes wide with amazement.

The coach is in his second season at Napoli, but never took a house in the city, preferring to live effectively at the Castelvolturno ground.

Napoli are eager to keep meetings with the fans at a minimum until Sunday’s Serie A match against Fiorentina at the Stadio Maradona, which is also where they will be presented with the trophy.
