Sampdoria risk relegation and bankruptcy and ultras reportedly threatened Abdelhamid Sabiri who was forced to return to Germany and won’t be available against Torino today.

The Blucerchiati are going through one the toughest times in their history. They sit rock bottom of the Serie A table and risk bankruptcy if Massimo Ferrero doesn’t sell the club.

Dejan Stankovic’s side had resigned after a 5-0 loss to Fiorentina on Sunday, but club and fans persuaded him to remain in charge. Today, they host Torino at the Stadio Ferraris, but the tension is escalating in town, report Il Secolo XIX and Calciomercato.com.

On Sunday, a group of ultras reportedly threatened Sabiri and General Secretary Massimo Ienca when the team returned from Florence.

Sabiri had infuriated fans for gifting a shirt to a young Fiorentina supporter after the game. The Morocco international will join the Tuscans in 2023-24. He returned to Germany, where his family lives, following threats and won’t be available against Torino. He may not play for Sampdoria again.

According to Calciomercato, the frustration of furious Sampdoria supporters could erupt during today’s meeting with Torino. Their latest home game against Spezia on April 22 was temporarily suspended after smoke bombs were thrown onto the pitch from the south stand of the ground. Local authorities fear the same could happen on Wednesday against the Granata.
