Milan star Rafael Leao is stunned that ‘people are allowed to say this kind of thing’ after the CEO of Sportitalia warned the only way to stop him was to ‘break his legs.’

The Portugal international was informed of the comment from Michele Criscitiello, who on live television gave this ‘advice’ to players representing Napoli, Lecce or any other opponents of Milan.

“We know who and what Leao is, so don’t let him start those runs. Take a yellow card, red card, orange whatever, break his legs.”

Leao reacted with sadness and wrote on his personal Twitter account: “The problem is not those who say these things, but those who allow them to say this sort of thing…”

Criscitiello was eager to explain himself, also on social media, assuring it was only a statement of hyperbole in a rhetoric sense to explain just how unstoppable Leao is when he gets going on those runs from his own half.

“Do you really not understand the point of this? Leao can only be stopped by ‘breaking his legs’ because he is phenomenal.”
