Silvio Berlusconi was admitted to San Raffaele hospital yesterday and reports today suggest the Monza president is fighting pneumonia as a result of his leukaemia.

La Repubblica details how the Forza Italia leader was taken to hospital on Wednesday morning and put in the cardiac intensive care unit, suffering from cardiovascular and respiratory problems. His condition is currently stable, but anxiety is high for the former Milan owner.

Berlusconi reportedly is battling leukaemia, which is why his bone marrow was taken. The pneumonia that he’s currently dealing with is a result of this illness.

The Monza owner was also hospitalised last week and then discharged on March 30, undergoing tests and treatment.

Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani provided a brief update on his health, saying: “President Berlusconi is in stable condition. He spent a quiet night.”

Monza and their CEO Adriano Galliani shared their support for Berlusconi, commenting on social media: “Affectionate best wishes, dear President, from all the great Biancorossa family. Adriano Galliani.”

His brother Paolo spoke to the press outside the hospital yesterday, commenting: “My brother is stable. He’s a rock, he’ll make it this time too. Our morale is good.”
