Fourth official Marco Serra is expected to be handed a long suspension after his sideline spat with Jose Mourinho, whose two-game ban is being appealed by Roma.

Things turned ugly on the touchline during the early stages of the second half of the Giallorossi’s 2-1 loss to Roma on Tuesday evening, when the Portuguese coach was shown a red card.

He and his staff were furious during and after the incident, and it was later revealed that Serra told Mourinho to ‘mind his f**king business’ after the coach questioned a missed call. The fourth official then said the Roma boss that “they all take the p*ss out of you, go home.”

As reported by La Repubblica, the AIA – the Italian referees association – are particularly annoyed about Serra’s conduct during the match between Roma and Cremonese, evident by their decision to suspend him from the next round of Serie A games.

The 40-year-old Turin-born referee will now likely be suspended for a long period and could even be sent down to the lower leagues.

In the meantime, Roma have announced their intention to appeal against the two-game ban handed to Mourinho following his red card. This is unlikely to be successful, given the coach’s previous infractions, but the decision will not go down well with supporters.
