The Turin Prosecutor has confirmed that 16 Juventus directors are under investigation for alleged false accounting and false communications to the market, but what happens now?
Turin Prosecutor Anna Maria Loreto confirmed the end of preliminary investigations involving Juventus board members and directors, including president Andrea Agnelli, vice president Pavel Nedved, CEO Maurizio Arrivabene and ex-chief Fabio Paratici, now at Tottenham.
As reported by La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Juventus lawyers can now scrutinise the documents with all the evidence collected by investigators and set up their defensive strategy.
They have 20 days to submit a statement of defence or ask the Prosecutor to listen to their clients, a request that can’t be rejected by law.
The other option is to do absolutely nothing, but Gazzetta suggests this is the less likely scenario given that, at this stage, the Prosecutor usually requests a trial after 20 days.
On the sporting front, FIGC Prosecutor Giuseppe Chiné can also receive the investigators’ documents.
Juventus and other 10 clubs were cleared of accusations of inflating transfer fees to boost capital gains this past April but, if new evidence emerges, then the FIG Prosecutor could open a new trial involving the Old Lady.
