Monza owner Silvio Berlusconi is ready to return to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza to face Milan, the club who won everything under his reign.

The 86-year-old Italian businessman owned the Rossoneri from 1986 to 2017, overseeing one of the most successful periods in their history; under Berlusconi’s reign, Milan won eight Scudetti, three Champions League titles and one FIFA Club World Cup, amongst other honours. The club went through a period of turmoil following his departure but have since rediscovered stability.

As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Berlusconi is now ready to return to San Siro to face his beloved Milan as an opponent, keen to see his Monza side pull off an upset. The match is starting to feel like a derby, and not only because of the geographical locations of the two teams.

Berlusconi took over Monza in 2018 and has managed to oversee their rise to the Italian topflight, the first time in the club’s history.
