Zlatan Ibrahimovic has officially become a free agent after his contract expired with Milan but a new deal is on the horizon.

The 40-year-old Swedish forward was one of the icons of the Rossoneri squad that broke their decade-long Scudetto drought. Despite missing a number of games last season through injury, Ibrahimovic still managed to net eight goals in 23 Serie A appearances.

As highlighted by TMW, Milan have already been in contact with Ibrahimovic regarding a new contract and it’s clear that both parties want to move forward together. Things were on hold until Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara were tied down to new deals, something that finally happened last night.

The current expectation is that Ibrahimovic will sign a one-year deal with a symbolic salary and a number of important add-ons linked to appearances, goals and sporting objectives. Things could be all tied up over the next week or two.
