Juventus may have a hard time tying down Matthijs de Ligt to a new deal as top European clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain all prepare to pounce.

The 22-year-old Dutch centre back had a good campaign under Massimiliano Allegri, being one of the better performers in a fairly uninspiring Bianconeri side this season. With his current contract expiring in 2024, the Old Lady are looking to tie him down to a new deal.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, PSG and Barcelona have all set their sights on De Ligt and could make moves this summer. Should a concrete offer arrive, it could change Juventus’ summer market plans.

The ball is now in De Ligt and Juventus’ court. The Dutchman has an €125m release clause and he wants that removed or significantly lowered in a new contract. This also gives the Bianconeri some security from the foreign interest, although they may decide to cash in nonetheless.

  1. @frankie, totally agree with you. He is not the great defense he was suppose to be. If juventus wants to sell him, they must to do it as soon as posible or it could turn another Ronaldo issue like last summer tranfer window when Juve didn’t have time enough to replace him.

  2. 125 and you can go… Then pay 40 for Coulibali and 30 for Bremer and built string defence again. Plus 55 for Nkuku.

  4. 125 and you can go… Then pay 40 for Coulibali and 30 for Bremer and built strong defence again. Plus 55 for Nkuku.

  5. 125 and you can go… Then pay 40 for Coulibali and 30 for Bremer and built strong defence again. Plus 55 remaining for Nkuku.

  6. Not surprised, he is not suited for Allegri-ball. Cash in and add another 30+ player to the likes of Bonucci 35, Sandro 31, Danilo 30.

  7. If a suitable offer arrives, I would not think twice and sell him. Do not forget this guy earns 8m + bonus, which is a crazy salary for what he offers at the pitch.
Then Juventus can go for Bremer or Koulibaly, cheaper alternatives and definitely better than the dutch…

  8. My oh my how the Juventini faithful have changed their tune. I ket saying that the Dutch Phil Jones has always been clunky, overrated and a penalty making gift for other clubs. Maybe he is of Ajax standard, but having 3 different coaches, especially PhD Max is the kiss of death. Also having Bonucci to guide is no guide as he is not a leader. Now with Giorgio gone, he will show his Milan form and be exposed once again. Juve are not smart enough to cash in. They did this years ago with back, back, down, down, side to side Sandro. Chelsea offered £60M and the genius crew rebuffed them. The Dutch Phil Jones is young and maybe a bigger club who plays football can revive him. Escape from PhD Max Alcatraz should be his priority. Dybala is the first prisoner released and will show his true form at Inter.

  9. Excellent defender, but keep in mind that he’s not seeing himself in Juventus jersey on a long term and earns huge salary. He will leave sooner or later, so sell him this summer if the right offer comes.

  10. @Lynchy you are more obsessed with Lord ALLEGRI as he triggered you with facts. What excuse can you use? At least post something related to the topic. de Ligt is young, but that excuse cannot be used forever. He is not anywhere near the level of his compatriots like Van Dijk and de Vrij. Overhyped and if another club wants to splash the cash, they should accept. However this is a new Juventus and only Alessio Secco is missing. Bring him back and the whole circus returns.
