Milan are keen to sign Nicolo Zaniolo and they’ve submitted an offer of both cash and Alexis Saelemaekers for the Roma talent.
The 22-year-old Italian forward has not renewed his contract with the Giallorossi yet and with his deal expiring in 2024, this summer represents a strong time to cash in on the player. Zaniolo had a slow start to the season under Jose Mourinho but warmed up as the year progressed, netting the winning goal in the Europa Conference League final against Feyenoord.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are keen to pick up Zaniolo this summer and they’ve offered Roma €25m plus Alexis Saelemaekers. The Belgian forward struggled to find consistency under Stefano Pioli this season and may be a better fit elsewhere.
Unfortunately for him and Milan, Roma have turned down the offer as Mourinho is unconvinced about the 22-year-old Belgian. The two parties are still in talks and further offers are expected as they work to reach an agreement.

But in all fairness, this isn’t a bad thought – If Zaniolo still hasn’t renewed it is quite possible his demands are outside Roma‘s reach. Milan could possibly meet those with Redbird coming in, and Saelemaekers isn’t in any way a flop – At 22 he just hasn’t found the right fit yet and a move to a different club, system, position, he could be a steal, depending on the amount.
I wouldn’t advice buying zaniolo, too fragile and too rebellious
I’m against offering Saelemakers. He should be kept, and compete with Calabria for the right back, which is his NATURAL POSITION.

What does Zaniolo guarantee at 22? Missed games through injuries. A lot of missed games through injures. 83 games missed in 4 seasons to be exact. Even this season, his minutes only had him complete 22 games in serie a and he was not always first choice. He’s also out of tonight’s game with an injury.

With his injury record at just 22 years of age, anything over 40m (which is about what Milan are offering) is a risk not worth taking.

I like them both honestly. Alexis for his hard work and the fact that he will improve and Zaniolo for everything but the injuries really. It would be a big risk signing him.
Plus, the last thing Zaniolo needs right now is to be “treated” at Milan Lab. The poor kid has had enough injury woes.
Those laughing at Saelemaekers – keep in mind he won Scudetto – something Roma players will never experience. If Zaniolo wants to win something, he need to leave.
