Gianluigi Donnarumma’s sadness regarding Mino Raiola’s death was palpable in his emotional tribute message.

The 23-year-old Italian shot stopper was represented by the super agent for the entirety of his professional career, helping him earn valuable contracts with Milan before organising his free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

Although Raiola wasn’t massively popular with clubs or fans, he was known for doing an incredible job representing his clients and ensuring they got the best possible deal.

Writing on his Instagram page, Donnarumma posted a touching tribute to Raiola, who sadly passed away yesterday.

“I’m so sad that I don’t even know if I’ll be able to say everything I want to.

“Mino, you have been unique to me, I thank you for being by my side from when I was a kid until today and I know that even from up there you will always be watching me and cheering me on as you always have. I made you a promise a long time ago, know that I will keep it….

“I love you. I miss you already.”

  1. Honestly, this is the best example that Raiola maybe got the best deals for his players, but not the best decisions. He was not a regular starter as PSG, he is not earning a lot more money, and it is hated by a lot fans from Milan. The move to PSG was not the best for his career and this season is proof. Moneywise, I would love Raiola as my agent, but career-wise maybe not

  2. Raiola is undoubtedly popular with his clients. I think most of us would also want him to be our agent if we’re football players who are looking to get paid. He has always able to overhype his clients, although some do manage to fulfil the promise, like Ibra.

He’s hated by the fans because he’s a ruthless negotiator, who shown no loyalty, only taking his business to the highest bidder. Sometimes we forget how the clubs could also be ruthless towards non-performing players.

I used to despise his antics, especially in creating drama to start a transfer saga, or getting big, fat commisions etc. However, I think deep down, we all realise that he’s just doing his job, and he’s very good at it. Afterall, he has the respect of Ibra, and that should mean a lot.

    Rest in peace, Raiola.
